This contract was designed by North East Lincolnshire Council with Specialist Surfacing Ltd acting as main contractor, employing Southam Services Ltd as the sub-contractor whom carried out the drainage upgrades. The logistics of the works and programme were planned by Specialist Surfacing Ltd with the contract delivered on budget and on time with no accidents, incidents or quality issues.
The project involved upgrades to the drainage system, planing out of the existing carriageway surface to a depth of 40mm, reinstating with 40mm of HRA and Pre-Coated Chippings. On completion of the planing operation there were areas exposed which then needed binder course repairs, these additional works were completed within the agreed programme period.
The footpaths were planed out to a depth of 70mm and reinstated with binder course and surface course. The work also involved reinstatement of an island within the road.
